When creating a website, you will be asked to either import a domain you already own, the option of using a domain purchased through fliddo or using the fliddosites domain name.  There are key differences between the three setup types.

Using FliddoSites
If you do not own a domain and do not want to purchase one at this time then you can still host your new site using the fliddosites.com domain name.  The format is [your site name].fliddosites.com.  There are advantages and disadvantages taking this approach.

Advantages
  1. There is no additional cost to you besides the fliddo subscription itself ( plugins excluded ).
  2. There is need for any custom setup, your website is automated.

Disadvantages
There are a couple of disadvantages
  1. Some plugins are not available for installation, specifically plugins allowing the use of transactions.  Since these plugins cannot be installed, they cannot be edited or designed either.
  2. You will not be able to use or sign up for any fliddo mailbox services.  Your website can still be setup for emails, however, you will have to use your personal account and setup the credentials using the Vault.

Note: You can always transfer your website from a FliddoSites domain to one you own or have purchased.

Importing your own domain
If you already own and domain and want to use it for your website, you can import it and benefit from some of the disadvantages outlined with FliddoSites.

Advantages
  1. There is no additional cost to you besides the fliddo subscription itself ( plugins excluded ).
  2. Plugins which make use of transactions are available for installation.
  3. Can use fliddo mailbox services.

Disadvantages
  1. You will need to manual configure your domains DNS server list.  This requires you to login or contact your domains registrar and update the DNS list using fliddo DNS servers.

Note: CDN and mailbox service configurations are still automated through DNS.

Using a domain purchased on fliddo
If you purchase a domain through fliddo, there are no disadvantages and your website and it's services are fully automated.
Setting up a website is complicated and involves many services, synchronization between services and extensions to those services.  Luckily, this is automated and is broken down into smaller chucks for easier management.

Website setup is divided into four parts.  Those parts are host installation, database installation, service installation and ssl certificate requests.  Each of these need to be install.

Host Installation
Installing host configurations, files and templates is slow because the installation needs to propagate throughout our network.  This happens twice, once for your administrative portal and once for your website. The installation is usually completed in under 30 minutes but may take up to 6 hours to complete.

Database Installation
This will install the default database records needed for your administrative portal and website to become accessing via URL.  This includes a root account and default plugins, roles and system configuration variables.

Service Installation
Installation of services such as DNS, CDN and Mailboxes depending on your plan.  This usually take a couple minutes to complete.

Ssl Certificate Requests
When the installation completes, our system will allocate a time slot for your SSL certificate to be generated and installed.  Most of the time this happens quickly, however, there may be circumstances where it may take as long as 24 hours.  If it's taking, you can send a manual certificate request which will reevaluate your time slot.

Note: It is recommended to wait at least 6 hours before sending a manual SSL certificate request.

Note: It's not recommended to remove any of these setup steps unless you are absolutely certain.  This is intended for customer who want to start over and do not care changes made are lost.
When creating your website you will be asked to select a country, language and currency.  The information is needed to better present service and product pricing, encode templates and page content, and automate page typography and scripture.

After setting your website language, it's important to develop your page content based on that language due to the automation for search engine optimization.

Note: English will always be presented alongside your countries primary languages.

There are circumstances where more than one language is desirable.  For example, you are in Canada and want to present your website in both English and French native languages.  This is not automated and will require in depth knowledge and manual configuration of your site content.

It is recommended to create another website specifically for a secondary language.  There are many reasons for doing this including streamlining content encoding and designing page specific to scripture size and length.

Note: Arriving Soon! If you are setting up a second website and own or bought a domain from us, you are able to use the same domain and host the website as a sub domain.

The currency you select here will reflect the currency you accept from customers, pricing data for services and/or products and transaction fees.

To further streamline your experience, transaction specific plugins will conform to the currency you select for your website. For example, if your website is set for USD then the product prices you set when using the Shop plugin will be in USD.

Fliddo charges 2.9% + $0.30 per successful card transaction and 0.25% + $0.25 for payouts ( amount of funds sent to your bank account ).

If selecting a currency not native to your country there are currency conversion fees per transaction for accepting payments from another country. There is an additional 1% fee for international and currency conversion transactions. For example, if you accept USD and allow international customers to purchase from your website then they are most likely using a card in their native countries currency.  In this case, the transaction will be 3.9% + $0.30.

Note:  The currency set on your website cannot be changed after it has been saved.  You need to contact support in order to change. Once changed, it's important to understand that any prices for product and/or services will not be automatically converted to the new currency.

Special attention needs to be give to currency converted payments which are disputed or refunded. Exchange rates fluctuate with the market, so the rate used during the payment often differs from the rate used when a dispute or refund occurs.  This means that the amount you received is converted back to the your currency at the current exchange rate.
